‘Sacred mountains in prehistoric Ireland (with examples from County Kerry): foci for pilgrimage?’

In this greatly anticipated webinar, Frank Coyne will explore the archaeological evidence for pilgrimage in Ireland, particularly in the prehistoric period. Many aspects of the theme of pilgrimage will be examined including: Is there any actual evidence from the pre-Christian period, and are Christian pilgrimages a continuation of prehistoric pilgrimage, or a completely separate entity with a different set of motivations? Frank will also discuss some examples of ‘holy mountains’ in Ireland, with a particular focus on examples from County Kerry.
